How do you work?
I do online sessions and tele-health only, for women aged 18 years and over. Before we can work together, I will have a free, 15-minute telephone consultation with you.
Therapy sessions are structured conversations aimed towards achieving the goals that you have set. However, because life is fluid and ever changing, you may not always have a goal in mind at the start of your work with me, or your goals may change as our work progresses. You have the freedom to adjust your aims for therapy, to question the process, and to voice your opinions on it.
What’s the consultation for?
In the consultation, we get to know each other a little to see how well we fit. We discuss the challenges that you’ve been having, how they’ve been impacting on you, and what you would like to gain from your therapy journey. I will offer you a basic treatment plan before you decide to book with me.
What happens in the first session?
In your first session, we will explore the impact of your challenges on your life and on your functioning, your coping skills and underlying strengths, and begin working towards the therapy goals we set in your consultation. You will also get home-work in each session: this can be something to do, read, write or reflect upon in between sessions, and will always be specifically geared towards goal achievement. Doing your home-work is an essential part of successful therapy.
How long is a session, what is the cost, and how do I pay?
A typical session lasts 50 to 60 minutes and, at the moment, this is the cost, as we recognize the different economic realities in which our clients reside:
TTD 600 / USD 89.00 (1 hour), for Caricom Residents/developing/3rd World Countries, and TTD 671.00/ USD 100 (1 hour), for Non CARICOM/1st world.
We accept Payment via online banking or WiPay for our international clients.
Is everything I say confidential?
Everything that you share in your sessions remains private with the exception of certain things. A part of my duty is to reasonably ensure that you are kept safe. If you express an intent to harm yourself, others or their property, and I have reason to believe these are genuine statements, or are engaging in elder or child abuse, I am not bound by confidentiality. If ordered by a court of law, I am also bound to release any information once the court provides a written request. This is extremely rare and in such cases, only minimal and necessary information is released.
How long will it take for me to feel better?
After having struggled for a time, we understandably can long for immediate relief. Therapy however, is a slow, gentle process that honours the fact that healing takes time. With regular attendance to your sessions, commitment to your work, and with my support, you can, and will see healing in your life.
How long should I be in therapy for?
How long you stay in therapy depends on the severity of your challenges, your ability to cope, how well you respond to therapy, and how much room there is in your life for the healing process. During therapy, we will regularly check in on how you’re doing, and how you feel about your progress. Although you can stop therapy whenever you like, ideally, we first take a break of 4-6 weeks (once you feel ready), then check back in to see how comfortable you felt to manage the challenge without my support. When you believe that you have met your goals for therapy, or you feel, for any reason, that you would like to stop, you can stop.

How do I know that therapy will help me?
Those who benefit most from the counselling process are:
- Willing and open to honestly share their experience in a safe and supportive space.
- Committed and prepared to make time for their sessions and also for the work that comes with self-reflection and healing.
- At least somewhat ready to explore their potential to begin thriving in their lives as opposed to just surviving.
Does something have to be “wrong” for me to attend therapy?
This is a resounding no! I also work with women who are interested in going deeper: into understanding themselves, their world and relationships, and the forces that have shaped them and the way they experience life.
